Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted centrally in high relief, showing three lions sejant addorsed atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra wheel. The motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate) appears in Devanagari script in the lower field. The denomination '150' in large numerals occupies the lower portion of the field, flanked by the bilingual legend 'भारत' and '150 रुपये' in Devanagari on the left and 'INDIA' and '150 RUPEES' in Latin script on the right, arranged along the coin's periphery.

Reverse description A facing three-quarter portrait of the ancient Indian statesman and philosopher Chanakya (Kautilya) positioned to the right of centre, depicted with characteristic physiognomy including a topknot and large earring, rendered in fine relief. To the left of the portrait, a stylised lotus flower is shown in bloom, serving as a symbolic motif. The bilingual name 'चाणक्य CHANAKYA' appears in the lower central field beneath the portrait. The commemorative legend 'INCOME TAX - 150 YEARS OF BUILDING INDIA' runs along the upper periphery in Latin script, with the corresponding Devanagari legend 'आयकर - भारत निर्माण के १५० वर्ष' along the left. The date range '1860 - 2010' is inscribed in the lower exergue.
