| Obverse description | Draped bust of Queen Maria I facing right, rendered in two distinct varieties: Gomes M1 29 depicts the queen wearing a widow's veil, while Gomes M1 30 shows her with an elaborate headdress. The effigy is executed in a relatively crude hammered style characteristic of the Goa Mint's colonial production. The denomination and mint name appear in the field, reading GOA / 150 R or GOA / 150 RES depending on the issue. The portrait is surrounded by a plain, undecorated border typical of hammered coinage of this period. |
