| Obverse description | Obverse of the host coin, a Spanish colonial hammered silver 2 Reales (macuquina), struck on an irregular flan typical of cob coinage. The field displays the quartered arms of Castile and León at centre, with the partial remains of a surrounding Latin legend visible along the irregular periphery. The design is characterised by the crude, bold style inherent to colonial hammered coinage, with flat and uneven strike surfaces. The entire surface bears the characteristic texture and wear associated with circulated cob coinage of the mid-17th century. |

| Reverse description | Reverse bearing the Portuguese countermark applied by order of King Afonso VI in 1663 to revalue circulating Spanish colonial 2 Reales at 150 Réis. The countermark consists of a crowned shield of Portugal surrounded by a decorative cartouche, with the numerals '150' prominently struck within a rectangular indent at the centre of the field. A second smaller crowned shield counterstamp is visible adjacent to the primary mark. The countermarks are deeply and boldly impressed, contrasting with the worn surfaces of the underlying host coin. |
