Opmerkingen

Italian savings banks were authorized to issue small-denomination fiduciary notes — fedi di credito — from the early 1970s onward to alleviate a chronic shortage of low-value coinage that had paralyzed everyday retail transactions. Vending machines, buses, and telephone booths were refusing coins that simply weren't in circulation; merchants handed out candy and stamps as change. The Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto responded with this locally printed 150 Lire note, an unusual denomination that reflects the specific pricing problems facing the Trentino region rather than any national standard.

Tipografia Stampa Rapida was a commercial printer, not a security press — a detail that made counterfeiting theoretically straightforward, though the notes' limited geographic acceptance kept fraud largely moot.
