Croatia's relationship with the Second World War's conclusion is considerably more complicated than most anniversary commemoratives acknowledge. The Independent State of Croatia was an Axis collaborator state whose Ustaše regime ran its own concentration camps, making a straightforward "victory over fascism" framing politically loaded in a way that distinguishes this issue from equivalent commemoratives struck elsewhere in Europe.
The 75th anniversary series from the Croatian National Bank appeared in the final years before Croatia's transition away from the kuna, which was replaced by the euro in January 2023.
