Issued to mark the graduation ceremony of Princess Chulabhorn Walailak from Kasetsart University in 1978, this is one of several Thai commemorative silver pieces from the late 1970s tied directly to royal family milestones rather than state occasions. Chulabhorn would later earn a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and be designated a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador — the graduation this coin marks was genuinely the beginning of a notable scientific career, not simply a dynastic formality.
