| Obverse description | Central field displays the arms of Grand Master Fra Emmanuel Pinto de Fonseca — a quartered shield bearing the traditional Hospitallers' arms alongside the Pinto family coat of arms — set within an ornate baroque cartouche and flanked by symmetrical laurel branches. The shield is surmounted by the Grand Master's princely crown, above which appears a small eight-pointed Maltese cross in the uppermost field. The circumferential legend reads F·EMMANUEL PINTO M·M·H·S·S· with the date 1772, distributed around the periphery of the coin. |
