Comments

Crédito Caucano was one of Colombia's last surviving regional private banks still issuing paper money in the early 1920s, operating out of Popayán at a time when the country was steadily consolidating note-issuing authority ahead of the Banco de la República's founding in 1923. This note dates from the final window of that private banking era.

The American Bank Note Company printed the series in New York. The 15-peso denomination is the oddity here — an unusual unit that suggests this was tailored to specific regional commercial needs rather than general retail circulation, possibly tied to commodity pricing in Cauca's agricultural trade.
