| Obverse description | Draped bust of the young Empress Maria Theresia facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and adorned with a small crown or jewelled ornament at the top. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a refined Baroque style, with a floral brooch at the shoulder. The circular legend reads MARIA THERESIA D G REG HUNG BOH, identifying her as Queen of Hungary and Bohemia by the grace of God. The portrait fills the central field, with the inscription running along the inner border of the reeded rim. |
