Charles III Joseph of Lorraine was appointed Bishop of Olomouc in 1695 at the age of nine — a purely political placement by the Habsburgs to secure Lorraine dynastic loyalty. He never took holy orders and governed the bishopric entirely through administrators. These 15 Kreuzer pieces were struck during the War of the Spanish Succession, when Moravian ecclesiastical mints were pressed to supply small silver for troop payments and regional commerce as imperial finances buckled under sustained campaigning on multiple fronts.
