Additional information

In 1956, the Soviet monetary system was mid-discussion about a denomination reform that would eventually land in 1961 — a redenomination that wiped ten old rubles to one new. Trial strikes in aluminium from this period were part of broader experimentation with cheaper coinage materials, driven by post-war metal economics rather than any coherent long-term policy. Most never advanced beyond internal Leningrad Mint evaluation.

Ushakov 187 is known in only a handful of confirmed examples.
