The Kaystriani were a minor tribal or civic grouping settled in the Kaystros river valley of Lydia, and their autonomous bronze coinage represents one of the more obscure local issues of western Asia Minor. Roman administrative reorganization of the region following 133 BC — when Attalos III bequeathed Pergamon to Rome — gradually absorbed such quasi-independent communities, which may explain why this series appears to have been short-lived and survives in small numbers. The SNG Munich and Mionnet references remain the primary anchors for attribution; no hoard context has firmly established a tighter date range within the two-century window.
