Canada's lunar series has run long enough that the RCM is now issuing second-cycle pieces — 2020 marks the second time the Mint has produced a Year of the Rat coin under Elizabeth II, the first having appeared in 2008. The .9999 fineness is atypically pure for a circulation-weight silver issue; most sovereign mints use .999 or .925 for pieces in this size range, and the RCM's insistence on four-nines silver for this series is a deliberate premium market distinction.
