| Reverse description | The reverse features an endearing and finely detailed portrayal of a Rat, the first animal of the Chinese zodiac cycle, seated beneath a cluster of Chinese gourds — traditional symbols of good fortune and prosperity. The design was created by Three Degrees Creative Group and is executed with coloured enamel detailing to enhance the naturalistic depiction. The Chinese character for 'Rat' (鼠) is engraved to the left of the central figure within the scalloped field. The overall composition reflects the Lunar New Year thematic series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, combining Eastern iconography with high-relief proof craftsmanship. |
