Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA SB
(Translation: Elizabeth II Queen by the grace of God)
Reverse description An elegant composition in the Chinese decorative tradition depicting a long-tailed bird in full flight across the upper field, surrounded by an intricate arrangement of lotus blossoms and scrolling foliate branches in high relief. At the centre of the design, a rectangular holographic insert features the Canadian maple leaf motif with shifting iridescent colour effects. Below the central motif, the Chinese character 福 (meaning 'happiness' or 'good fortune') is prominently placed between the inscriptions CANADA to the left and 15 DOLLARS 2011 to the right along the lower rim. The engraver's initials BN appear discreetly within the reverse field. The entire design is framed by a plain raised border, with the proof finish providing strong contrast between the frosted relief and the mirrored field.
