Canada's Lunar Lotus series was designed specifically for the Chinese-Canadian collector market, with the Royal Canadian Mint aggressively expanding its bullion and numismatic programs in the 2010s to capture demand from diaspora communities across North America and Asia. The Year of the Monkey began February 8, 2016 — a date the RCM coordinated its release around.
