| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Susanna Blunt, depicted with a pearl necklace and drop earrings against a mirror-polished field. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the right periphery, 'CANADA' along the upper arc, and '15 DOLLARS' along the left, all following the distinctive eight-lobed lotus-flower scalloped contour of the flan. The date '2016' is inscribed at the base of the effigy. The portrait is rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and facial features characteristic of the fourth effigy used on Canadian coinage. |
