Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's "Animal Allies" series, this issue was produced using shaded-relief engraving techniques the RCM developed in-house during the 2010s to achieve depth and texture impossible through conventional die work. The lynx subject draws on Canada's long fur trade history — the Canada lynx pelt was among the most commercially significant in the Hudson's Bay Company's ledgers for over two centuries.
