Reverse description Central device depicts a highly detailed relief representation of the Little Hero gold nugget, discovered in Victoria in 1890, rendered in 22-carat rose gold guilding against a mirror-polished proof field. Surrounding the nugget is a radiating sunburst pattern in rose gold toning, adding depth and contrast to the composition. The anniversary numeral 35 appears prominently in the upper field, commemorating 35 years of the Australian Nugget series. The circular legend THE AUSTRALIAN NUGGET 1/10 OZ FINE GOLD arcs around the upper periphery, while LITTLE HERO 1890 is inscribed below the central device, and the date 2021 appears at the base, all within a beaded border.

Additional information

The "Little Hero" belongs to Perth Mint's ongoing series celebrating Australian animals, issued as a fractional gold proof aimed squarely at the gift and collector market rather than circulation. The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was adopted by Australian coinage from 2019 onward.

The layered composition — .9167 gold plated over .9999 fine gold — is a production technique Perth uses to achieve color differentiation on proof surfaces without resorting to enamel or paint, keeping the piece technically all-gold.
