Australia's gold kangaroo bullion program has been running since 1986, and the Perth Mint changes the reverse design annually — a deliberate policy introduced partly to discourage melting and encourage collector retention alongside investment demand. The 6th portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was adopted by Australian coinage in 2019 and appears on relatively few issues before her death in September 2022 made it a terminal series.
