Reverse description The reverse features a vibrant pad-printed colorized depiction of the Monkey King (Sun Wukong), the legendary figure from the classic Chinese novel 'Journey to the West', shown in full stride. The figure is rendered in vivid polychrome color, dressed in traditional warrior attire of yellow, blue, and red, wielding his staff in one hand while holding a peach in the other, with stylized clouds at his feet. To the left of the central motif, the Chinese character '猴' (meaning 'Monkey') is incused into the gold field. The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark appears to the right of the figure. The legend 'Year of the Monkey' is inscribed in a curved arc along the lower portion of the field.
