Beschrijving keerzijde An adult koala is depicted in high relief, perched securely on a tree branch, set against a background evoking a gently rolling, grassy hillside landscape. The animal is rendered with fine naturalistic detail, capturing the texture of its fur and the firm grip of its claws on the limb. The legend AUSTRALIAN KOALA arcs across the upper field, while the lower field bears the date 2015, the mint mark P for the Perth Mint, the weight and fineness inscription 1/10oz 9999 GOLD, and the designer's initials IJ P. The overall composition reflects the high standard of the Perth Mint's Australian Koala bullion series.

Aanvullende informatie

Australia's gold koala bullion series has changed its design annually since 1980, a policy the Perth Mint adopted deliberately to discourage melting — collector demand for each unique year keeps coins out of the smelter more effectively than any legal restriction. The 2015 issue falls within the series' transition toward ultra-fine .9999 purity, a standard the Perth Mint aggressively marketed against its own earlier .9990 issues and against the long-dominant South African Krugerrand.

The 4th Portrait of Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley, was introduced on Australian coinage in 1999 and would remain current until 2019.
