| Beschrijving voorzijde | The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, as modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend 'ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 15 DOLLARS' arcs around the upper field, with the engraver's initials 'IRB' appearing below the truncation of the bust. The design is rendered in high relief against a frosted field consistent with proof coinage. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Australian Koala gold series launched in 1980 and has run with an annually changing reverse design ever since — a deliberate strategy by the Perth Mint to encourage year-on-year collector acquisition rather than simple bullion accumulation. The 3.11g quarter-ounce denomination sits at the smaller end of the series' weight range, which extends up to one kilogram.
Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth effigy of Elizabeth II, used here, was introduced to Australian coinage in 1999 and remained current until replaced by Jody Clark's portrait in 2019.
