Aanvullende informatie

Australia's gold kangaroo bullion series has been issued continuously since 1987, making it one of the longer-running sovereign bullion programs of the modern era. The fractional denominations — of which this is one — were introduced partly to broaden retail accessibility, though the face value bears no meaningful relationship to gold spot price at any point in the coin's existence.

The .9999 fineness became standard for this series in 1990, a step up from the original .9999 specification that was already among the purest in the world — a deliberate point of market differentiation against the South African Krugerrand's .9167 alloy.
