El Pla de Cabra is a small municipality in the Camp de Tarragona, and this note belongs to the vast wave of emergency fractional currency — the *moneda de paper* — issued by Catalan municipalities after the summer of 1936 drained metallic coinage from circulation almost entirely. The Republican government had authorized local bodies to plug the gap themselves, and hundreds did exactly that, each printing to their own brief and budget.
Imprenta E. Castells in Valls handled a number of these small municipal commissions in the Tarragona region, which accounts for the heavier card stock — a practical choice when quantities were modest and longevity mattered more than elegance. Turró catalogues this as a single-value issue for the municipality.
