| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms, featuring the quartered shield with five escutcheons (quinas) at center, enclosed within a beaded or rope-style border. The mint marks O and D (D inverted) appear flanking the shield in the field, identifying this piece as a product of the Dio (Diu) mint under João V. The overall design is characteristic of cast Portuguese Indian coinage of the mid-eighteenth century, with a somewhat crude but recognizable rendering of the royal arms surmounted by a royal crown. |
