| 表面の説明 | Facing head of Apollo, slightly turned to the left, depicted in three-quarter view with wavy hair crowned with a wreath of laurel or ivy, rendered in a naturalistic Hellenistic style. The facial features are carefully modeled with full cheeks and a serene expression characteristic of late Classical and Hellenistic portraiture. A dotted border runs along the coin's periphery. The field is otherwise plain, with no legend present. The overall style is consistent with the civic bronze coinage of the Black Sea colony of Istros. |

Istros, the Greek colony on the Black Sea coast of modern Romania, maintained its civic coinage well into the late Hellenistic period despite increasing pressure from surrounding Getic and later Getae tribal confederacies. By the first century BC the city's autonomy was severely curtailed, and bronze civic issues like this one represent the tail end of independent municipal coinage before the region fell under Roman provincial organization.
