| 表面の説明 | Bearded head of Herakles facing right, rendered in a robust Sicilian style with curly hair and short beard visible in profile. The portrait occupies the majority of the flan, with strong facial modeling typical of Hellenistic bronze coinage of Sicily. No legend appears in the field. |

Alontion was a small Sikel settlement in northeastern Sicily, its coinage output modest and concentrated largely in the third century BC — a period when the island's political allegiances were in constant flux between Carthage and the expanding Roman Republic. The city's bronze issues are rare enough that die links between specimens have been identified across a handful of collections worldwide, suggesting extremely limited production runs. The SNG ANS reference places this piece within a group that has helped scholars confirm Alontion's continued autonomous minting even as Roman influence tightened following the First Punic War.
