| Obverse description | The national emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic occupies the central field, depicting the That Luang stupa set against a stylised globe, flanked by two bound sheaves of rice and a gear wheel at the base. A ribbon bearing an inscription in Lao script is draped across the lower portion of the emblem. The legend THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC runs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the date 2000 appears in a highlighted banner at the bottom of the field. |
