The Hungarian National Ambulance Service, founded in 1948, operates as a single centralized system across the entire country — an organizational model rare in Europe, where most nations delegate emergency medical response to regional or municipal authorities. This coin was issued to mark the 75th anniversary of that structure. Hungary has a tradition of issuing commemorative forints for institutional anniversaries that attract little secondary-market attention abroad, which tends to keep mintage figures modest and domestic demand relatively contained.
