背面描述 A prancing horse with rider, depicted in profile to the right, occupies the upper field, serving as a Lampsakos mint control symbol. Across the centre of the field, the Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝ is inscribed in two lines flanking a strung bow rendered horizontally, with a club (or arrow) depicted below it; the legend concludes with ΔΡΟΥ in the lower field. The bow and club are the emblems of Herakles and serve as the principal reverse type of Alexander's gold coinage. The composition is arranged within an irregularly shaped flan typical of hammered issues of this series.

附加信息

Struck at Lampsakos on the Hellespont — a mint Alexander activated specifically to fund his eastern campaigns — these quarter staters served as small-denomination payments for soldiers and merchants operating along critical supply lines into Asia. Lampsakos was already a major gold-processing center before Alexander's arrival, which is precisely why he chose it. Price 1361 is among the better-documented die pairings from this mint, with the SNG Berry specimen providing a useful reference point for the series.
