Above the horse, vestigial remains of a charioteer figure are present, reduced to schematic linear elements reflecting advanced stylistic degeneration from earlier Gaulish prototypes. A crosslet device appears before the horse's chest in the field. Between the horse's legs, a lyre motif is depicted, flanked on either side by a pointed star or pellet-and-ring ornament. The overall composition fills the flan in a loose, irregular arrangement typical of Armorican quarter-stater coinage. |

The Abrincatui were a minor Armorican tribe occupying the coastal region around what is now Avranches in Normandy, and their coinage is known almost exclusively from small fractional issues like this one. Production almost certainly ceased with Caesar's Gallic campaigns, which effectively ended independent monetary activity across Armorica by the late 50s BC. The tribal name itself survives in the Latin toponym Ingena, later corrupted into the medieval Abrincae.
The "var." designation against DT#2271 indicates this piece deviates from the type standard — most likely in die arrangement or flan preparation — without constituting a fully catalogued separate variety.
