| Obverse description | Draped bust of Demeter facing right, her flowing hair bound with a wreath of grain and secured with a ribbon, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with naturalistic modelling. Long, wavy locks fall about the neck, and the facial profile is elegantly portrayed with a delicate eye and softly defined features. The flan is irregular and slightly cracked, characteristic of the emergency coinage struck during the Second Punic War period. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse field. |
