Obverse description Griffin crouching to left in high relief, its wings spread upward and body rendered with finely detailed feathering; the creature's beak is open and forelegs are extended forward in a characteristic resting pose. The city ethnic ΑΒΔΗ-ΡΙΤΕΩΝ appears in Greek legend below the griffin, distributed across the lower field of the flan. The style is characteristic of the skilled die-cutters active at Abdera during the late fourth century BC, conveying both power and elegance within the compact flan.

Reverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine Classical style with carefully articulated curling hair bound by a laurel wreath; the facial features display the idealised beauty typical of late fourth-century BC Thracian coinage. The magistrate's name legend ΕΠΙ ΠΟΛ-ΥΦΑΝΤΟΥ is disposed around the portrait in Greek characters, identifying the issuing eponymous magistrate Polyphantos. The flan is irregular in outline, as is typical of hammered coinage of this period and region.
