| Obverse description | Draped bust of Archbishop Marcus Sitticus von Hohenems facing left, attired in full pontifical vestments. The circular Latin legend, commencing at approximately 7 o'clock, reads the full titulature identifying the archbishop as Archbishop of Salzburg and Apostolic Legate. The portrait is rendered in the formal ecclesiastical style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German medallic art, with fine detailing on the clerical robes and collar. |

| Reverse description | A centrally placed oval heraldic shield bearing the arms of Archbishop Marcus Sitticus, surmounted by a legate's galero with pendant tassels. Flanking the shield are the standing figures of the patron saints of Salzburg: St. Rupert on the left, holding a salt cask as his attribute, and St. Virgil on the right, holding a model of Salzburg Cathedral. The reverse legend QVI FVNDASTIS PROTEGITE ('You who founded, protect') runs around the periphery, with the date incorporated into the legend. |
