Ballaeus ruled a kingdom whose borders and even precise chronology remain contested — the 260–230 BC date range is a scholarly approximation, not a documented reign. His bronze issues are among the few material traces confirming his existence at all. The BMC Greek attribution has held largely by default, given how little epigraphic or literary evidence survives to challenge it.
