| Obverse description | Bare-headed portrait of Ariarathes II facing left, wearing the characteristic Persian bashlyk headgear, rendered in a compact, archaic Hellenistic style typical of early Cappadocian royal coinage. The effigy displays a bearded profile with defined facial features, the pointed tip of the bashlyk rising prominently above the crown of the head. The flan is irregular and slightly rough, consistent with early hammered bronze production of the period. No legend appears on the obverse field. |
