Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, the cheekpieces raised. The goddess's facial features are rendered in the typical South Italian Greek style, with the neck and lower drapery visible below. The field shows characteristic olive-green patination consistent with the bronze fabric of this Lucaniari mint.

Reverse description Herakles standing left, nude, wearing the Nemean lion skin draped over his extended left arm as a shield, and resting a club upright on his left shoulder. The hero's muscular form is rendered in the convention of South Italian Greek bronzes of the late Classical period. The ethnic legend ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΩΝ is disposed in the field, identifying the issuing community of Herakleia.
