Obverse description Herakles depicted in a dynamic kneeling pose to the right, his right arm raised and brandishing a club overhead while his left hand grasps a strung bow. The heroic figure is rendered in the archaic Greek style characteristic of late 6th century BC coinage, with bold, vigorous relief work. The composition fills the flan with expressive energy, the musculature of the figure suggested through skilled die engraving.
