| Thông tin bổ sung |
Kition, on the southeastern coast of Cyprus, was a Phoenician city-state that maintained close ties with the Persian Empire throughout the fifth and fourth centuries BC — a relationship that directly shaped its coinage. The city's mint operated under a succession of Phoenician kings, and silver fractions like this one were the workhorses of local trade during a period when Cyprus was persistently contested between Persian and Egyptian spheres of influence.
The BMC Greek 83 reference places this piece within a well-documented but numerically scarce series. Phoenician weight standards governed the fractional denominations at Kition, distinguishing its issues from the Attic-standard coinages circulating elsewhere in the eastern Mediterranean at the same moment.
