Alexandria Troas was refounded by Antigonus I around 310 BC and substantially reorganized under Lysimachus, who renamed it after Alexandria in Egypt. The city sat at a strategically critical point on the Hellespont approaches, and its bronze coinage of this period circulated locally as the city navigated shifting Seleucid and Pergamene pressures following the collapse of Lysimachean power at Corupedium in 281 BC.
