| Reverse description | The Portuguese royal coat of arms of João V, rendered in the second type of shield design, occupies the central field and is surmounted by an elaborate open royal crown with fleurons and arches. The escutcheon displays the traditional Portuguese quintas arrangement of five inescutcheons bearing the quinas, enclosed within a bordure of castles, all set against an ornate Baroque cartouche with scrolling acanthus foliage flanking both sides. The entire composition fills the field to the rim, with no peripheral legend, reflecting the bold heraldic style characteristic of Bahia Mint gold coinage of this period. |
