Obverse description Central field features the Lion Capital of Ashoka (the national emblem of India), depicted in high relief with four Asiatic lions atop an abacus, serving as the primary device. The Devanagari legend 'भारत' appears along the left periphery and the Latin legend 'INDIA' along the right periphery. Below the emblem, the national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Truth Alone Triumphs) is inscribed in Devanagari script.
