| Reverse description | The reverse presents a compelling mosaic-style depiction of the Virgin Orante (Orans), replicating the celebrated 11th-century mosaic found in the apse of Saint Sophia Cathedral, Kyiv. The imposing frontal figure of the Blessed Virgin is shown with arms raised in the traditional orant posture, rendered within a decorative wreath of foliate ornament that forms a circular border. The inscription ОРАНТА is positioned horizontally across the field, bisected by the figure itself. Below the central image, above the lower foliate border, inscriptions denote the metal, fineness, and weight of the coin in fine gold. |
