| Obverse description | Griffin seated to right in the field, its left forepaw raised in a characteristic alert posture. The creature is rendered with a pronounced eagle's head, open beak, pricked ears, and clearly articulated folded wings sweeping back along the haunches. The leonine hindquarters and curling tail are rendered with fine detail characteristic of the Ionian die-cutting tradition. The type served as the civic badge of Teos and is executed with notable plasticity despite the coin's diminutive fabric. |
