Obverse description Left-facing draped and uniformed bust of King Carol I of Romania, depicted in military dress adorned with orders and decorations. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail. The obverse legend arcs around the periphery, citing the king's reign dates 1866–1906, and the engraver's name A. MICHAUX appears below the truncation.
