| 表面の説明 | The obverse features a bold central sunburst design composed of radiating rays arranged in two fan-shaped clusters, one above and one below a horizontal band bearing the word PROVISIONAL in raised block lettering. The circular peripheral legend REPÚBLICA DE GUATEMALA runs along the upper rim in Latin script, while the date 1915 is prominently struck at the base of the design. The field is plain and unadorned, lending a stark, utilitarian character consistent with the coin's provisional issue status. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a milled outer rim. |

Guatemala's 1915 provisional issues were struck during a period of acute monetary disruption tied to the outbreak of World War I, which severed normal trade flows and caused silver to be hoarded or exported across Central America. Bronze fractional pieces filled the gap left by vanishing silver coinage. The 12½ centavo denomination itself is a relic of the colonial real system — one real equaling 12½ centavos — still embedded in everyday accounting long after decimalization.
