Obverse description Left-facing laureate and draped bust of Louis XVI occupying the central field, struck on the original French Écu host coin. A small oval countermark depicting a crowned 'G.P.' monogram is impressed upon the king's neck and shoulder area, applied by Azorean authorities in 1887. The peripheral legend reads LUDXVI·D·G·FR·ET·NAV·REX in raised Latin characters, identifying Louis XVI as King of France and Navarre. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style typical of late 18th-century French royal coinage.

Reverse description Central oval shield bearing the crowned arms of France — three fleurs-de-lis on a shield — flanked symmetrically by two laurel and olive branches tied at the base. A large royal crown surmounts the shield. The date 1775 appears in the upper field between the branches, with the mint mark K (Bordeaux) at the base. The surrounding legend reads ·SIT·NOMEN·DOMINI·BENEDICTUM· in raised Latin letters, a biblical invocation meaning 'Blessed be the name of the Lord'. The composition is typical of the Écu aux lauriers series of Louis XVI.
