正面描述 The obverse features the national arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo at centre, depicting a leopard's head facing front, superimposed upon a crossed elephant tusk and spear, all mounted on a plinth bearing the motto PAIX in raised lettering. To the left and right of the arms appear the mottoes JUSTICE and TRAVAIL respectively, with the date 2013 divided across the lower field. The peripheral legend REPUBLIQUE DEMOCRATIQUE DU CONGO arcs along the upper rim within a beaded border, while the denomination 120 FRANCS and the fineness mark 1/2 oz Ag 999 are inscribed along the lower rim.

附加信息

The Democratic Republic of Congo has issued wildlife-themed bullion and collector coinage prolifically since the early 2000s, largely through licensing arrangements with European minting houses — most commonly the Bavarian State Mint and B.H. Mayer's Mint in Germany. The "Banque Centrale du Congo" imprimatur on these pieces reflects legal tender status, but the coins were never intended for domestic circulation in a country where the Congolese franc remains the functional currency.

The rhinoceros issues in this series targeted the international collector market at a moment when African wildlife coins were commanding strong premiums. Partial gilding on pieces of this type was applied after striking.
