Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Jesus Christ standing in glory within a beaded oval mandorla or vesica, raising his right hand in benediction and holding the Gospels in his left hand. The mandorla is surrounded by fourteen six-pointed stars arranged in a ring around its border. The two-part votive legend encircles the entire design, reading SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV· REGIS·ISTE·DVCAT· ('May this ducat be given to you, O Christ, who reignest'), a formula standard to Venetian gold coinage. The field between the mandorla and the legend is plain, and the overall composition reflects the centuries-old sacred iconography of the Venetian zecchino tradition.
